What is Call for Songs…
We are looking for songwriters to collaborate with and bring their music to life in the form of a live string orchestra with a live audience. The goal of the commission is to bridge various musical genres with classical music and make classical music more accessible and approachable.
Eligibility:
- Songwriter must be 18 years of age to apply
- Songwriters with experience of western notation (classical music notation) preferred but not required
- Songwriters who identify with BIPOC or LGBTQ+ are encouraged to apply
- Work(s) must be minimum 3 minutes to maximum 6 minutes
Selected Songwriters will…
- Work with an arranger free of charge!
- Given a slot to perform their works at the main event as a featured artist
- Have their song premiered by the string orchestra
- Very good free food!
How to Submit:
- Submit through google form with a short bio including past works (500 word max), PDF of lyrics, sound file, and program notes about the song
- Maximum 2 songs for each person
- No fee!
